Base Rock Class 2
Class 2 is a CalTrans base rock specification designed to provide high stability when compacted and used as a base for paved roadways. However, it has many additional functions, such as providing a foundation for concrete slabs, stone walls, pathways, or other structures that require a stable layer over a soil surface.
Drain Rock 3/4” Crushed
Crushed Drain Rock is commonly used in drainage systems such as French drains. It also makes excellent pipe bedding. The angular nature of crushed drain rock enables it to pack and create a solid base for stone walls, driveways, and other structures that need a stable foundation over a soil surface. Angular drain rock is often spread over bare ground to produce an area suitable for driveways, parking areas, or paths where a hard, stable surface is needed. It is often used on construction sites placed over soil in wet weather to keep mud from sticking to the tires of trucks and other vehicles.
Concrete Sand C33 & Horticultural Sand
Concrete Sand is a washed, coarse sand that is one of the ingredients added to cement to make concrete. Its graded particle sizes add strength to the concrete. Cement sand is also used to make masonry grout. Concrete Sand, sometimes called paver sand, is also used as a base to set paving stone, brick, and flagstone. For this purpose, some prefer Blue Pathway Fines, whose angular structure gives better compaction and stability at a lower price.
It also has horticultural uses. C33 sand is the primary ingredient in biotreatment soils. We also sell it as horticultural sand for soilless container mixes. But do not mix it into clay soils to improve drainage. It does not have the correct particle size distribution for that purpose. Please consult our staff for information on how to amend clay soils. We have several products that do an excellent job.
Oly#1 Washed Sand
Oly #1 Washed Sand is a fine, clean, and light-colored sand used in applications where a smooth, uniform texture is essential. It is commonly used in fine-textured mortar mixes,stucco finishes, filling joints between pavers, and blending into soil mixes to enhance drainage. Due to its high purity and consistent gradation, Oly #1 is also favored for specialty uses such as sports fields, sandbox fills, and other projects requiring clean, refined fine sand.
Utility Sand
Utility sand is a fine-grained, clean, and generally unwashed sand commonly used in both construction and landscape projects for its compactability and drainage properties. It is ideal for backfilling utility trenches, pipe bedding, and as a leveling base under pavers, patios, and walkways. In landscaping, utility sand is often used to fill joints between pavers, smooth uneven areas, or as a base material in soil mixes to improve drainage. Its consistent texture and ease of compaction make it a versatile and reliable material for a wide range of structural and non-structural applications.
